At the Queensland Eye Institute, everything we do is inspired by our mission, values, and vision.

Our purpose:

to make significant scientific, educational and clinical contributions to eye health, especially in Australia and its near neighbours.

Our vision is:

to be internationally recognised for our efforts in research, education and clinical care to reduce eye disease and promote eye health in the community.

Our mission is:

To provide excellence in research, education and clinical care to reduce eye disease, improve eye health and ultimately eliminate preventable blindness in the community.

We achieve this through our dedication to basic, applied and clinical research; teaching and education programs; and the provision of specialist clinical services to both patients and other healthcare workers.

Our values

Our values serve as a compass for our actions and describe how we behave in the world.

We provide the mentorship, training and tools necessary for our students and researchers to make a difference. We develop education programmes that allow our staff, students, registrars, fellows, eye care workers to reach their full potential.

We aim to create a working environment in which trust, integrity, collaboration, cooperation and personal initiative and responsibility thrive.

We learn by experience

We lead by example
